Ogden Doctors Take More than 70 Children to ‘Shop with a Doc’

On Saturday, December 10 at 9am, Ogden Clinic doctors and employees took more than 70 children in need this holiday season, to shop for their Christmas list at the Riverdale SuperTarget.

“Ogden Clinic started the ‘Shop with a Doc’ program to help local children become more confident around doctors and other healthcare providers,” said Ogden Clinic CEO Paul Schofield. “We see it as a unique, heartfelt way to give back to the incredible community in which we live.”

Each child, ranging from ages three to 12, was given a $125 Target gift card to use while shopping with one of more than 80 Ogden Clinic volunteers, including physicians, advanced practice providers and other staff members. The children came from local community programs.

The children were also given a backpack at the end of the event, containing treats, hygienic items, and warm clothing. Breakfast was also available for children and their parents throughout the event.

“This is an awesome event, both for Ogden Clinic and for the community,” said Dr. Josh Vandersteen, Gastroenterologist at Ogden Clinic. “I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than helping local kids have a great Christmas.”
